• • The Great Plains Food Bank distributes food directly into 200 communities throughout North Dakota and Clay County, Minnesota.
  • More than ½ of the people accessing food assistance through the Great Plains Food Bank and our partners are children or seniors.
  • 39 percent of households facing food insecurity are unable to work due to age or disability. 
  •  43 percent of households were forced to choose between paying for food or utilities in the past 12 months.
  • Unique dietary needs, such as gluten free, heart healthy and halal or kosher are served by the Great Plains Food Bank and our network of partners.
  • Last year the Great Plains Food Bank provided over 9 million meals to our neighbors facing hunger.

Many people think the problems associated with hunger are confined to small pockets of society, certain areas of the country or certain neighborhoods. But the reality is, in North Dakota alone, 1 in 6 of our neighbors faces food insecurity.  

Hunger is too close for comfort for many of our neighbors.
